Suno Hooks Explained: The Short-Video Feature, Step by Step

Suno Hooks is a short-form video feature inside Suno: you pick a song from your library, choose where the clip starts, add a video from your device and post it to Suno's Hooks feed, where other users can like, comment on, share and remix it. It is not the same thing as a song's hook (the catchy part, usually the chorus), and it is unrelated to HOOKFIGHTS, an independent site where hooks of released AI songs battle for listener votes.

How the feature works is taken from Suno's official help center, checked on October 28, 2026. Where Suno doesn't say something, such as a length limit, we say so instead of guessing.

What is the Suno Hooks feature?

Suno's help center describes Hooks as a way to combine your music and videos into short-form content to share with the Suno community. It gives a song a visual layer and another way to tell its story. Hooks live in their own feed inside Suno, and the help center's Hooks category holds a single article, "Create: Hooks".

Digital Music News reported that Suno launched the feature in September 2025, a year before Suno's current v6 models arrived in September 2026.

How to use Suno Hooks, step by step

  1. Open the Hooks feed and tap Create a Hook in the top right.
  2. Pick a song from your Recents, Public or Liked library.
  3. Scrub through the song to choose where your Hook starts.
  4. Upload a video from your device's library.
  5. Optionally, turn on Show Lyrics to display the song's lyrics.
  6. Tap Post to add the Hook to the Hooks feed.

Once it's live, other creators can like it, comment on it, share it and remix it.

Remixing Hooks: who can monetize what

Because Hooks can be remixed, it helps to know Suno's remix rules. Its help center says a remix of someone else's song isn't eligible for monetization, and turning on remixing for your own song doesn't transfer your rights to anyone. A remix of your own song can qualify for commercial use if you download it with a paid-plan download. In short: remixes spread your song, but they don't let anyone else earn from it.

Suno Hooks video: what to upload

The help article describes uploading a video from your device; it doesn't describe Suno generating the video for you. A few practical points:

  • Shoot vertical. Suno's own short-form guide recommends 9:16 video for short-form content.
  • Use footage you have rights to. Suno's terms say you must hold the rights and permissions needed for anything you upload.
  • Match the mood. The same guide suggests close-ups for intimate songs, fast cuts for chaotic ones, and opening on your most replayable moment.
  • Decide on lyrics. Show Lyrics helps when the words are the hook; leave it off when the picture carries the moment.

Suno hook length: how long is a Hook?

Suno's help article doesn't state a minimum or maximum length for a Hook. You choose the start point by scrubbing through the song. Some third-party sites quote specific limits, but we couldn't confirm them on Suno's official pages, so check the app before planning a long edit.

Where you start matters more than how long you run. Start on the chorus, or a beat before it, so the first thing people hear is the line you want stuck in their heads. Suno's short-form guide tells creators to hook people in the first one to three seconds.

Rules to knowSuno's terms and moderationMonetizing a Suno song needs a paid Suno plan; TikTok requires labels on AI content showing realistic-looking scenes or people

To use a Suno song on TikTok, you download it and upload it there. Songs made on Pro (20 song downloads a month) or Premier (60) come with commercial rights, and Suno's help center says they can be used in monetized content on TikTok and YouTube. Free-plan songs are for personal, non-commercial use, and free accounts get no monthly downloads.

The two aren't rivals. Hooks puts your song in front of people already on Suno; TikTok reaches a general audience. For the TikTok side, read how AI songs go viral on TikTok.

Suno Hooks vs. a song's hook vs. HOOKFIGHTS

Three different things share one word:

A song's hookThe most memorable musical or lyrical phrase in a song, usually in the chorus. Suno's own glossary defines the hook as a catchy, memorable phrase and the chorus as the main repeated section that carries it.A songwriting term; nobody owns it

If your real question is what makes a good hook rather than how the feature works, start with what a hook is in music and chorus vs. hook.

The Hook Music name dispute

On December 1, 2025, Hook, an AI remix app also known as Hook Music, published a statement saying Suno's "Create Hook" feature closely resembles its trademarked brand and core product. Hook said it was evaluating Suno's use of the language and considering its options, including legal action if necessary, and Digital Music News covered the statement the next day. We found no report of a lawsuit being filed as of October 28, 2026. Suno's help center still calls the feature Hooks.

How to get more out of Suno Hooks

  • Lead with the chorus. A Hook that starts on a verse asks viewers to wait.
  • Pick the clip for the sound, not the picture. Remixes spread your song only if the music itself sticks.
  • Read the comments as data. The line people quote back to you is your real hook.
  • Test the hook on strangers. The Hooks feed reaches people already on Suno. To hear what general listeners think, enter the chorus of a released song in a blind hook battle here, then follow its rating on the rankings. Entering is free, and a person reviews every entry.
